Weekly Journal - Coraline

Image
Introduction Coraline is a 3D dark fantasy stop-motion film. This film was released on 2009. This film has written and directed by Henry Selick and it was produced by Laika. To this journal, I would like to share about what are the genres have been used in this film. The kind of the genres that have been used in this film is genre bending. This is because this kind of film included many genres such as horror, action, adventure, fantasy, and comedy. To me, I am not sure this kind of film is suitable for kids or not but it can reflect to our life sometimes. In fact, this film has given many values to us after watching. Theory  In this film has included many genres. First of all, the part of the horror genre. The scene that I feel horror is the “other” mother want to sew the button on Coraline’s eyes. The “other” mother want Coraline stays with her forever and needs Coraline to sewed up her eyes. I can’t look into the “other” mother’s eye because her eyes were sewed by th...

Weekly Journal - Final Destination(2000)

Image
I had watched the horror film, Final Destination (2000). Final Destination (2000) is directed by James Wong and produced by James Wong, Glem Morgan, Jeffrey Reddick. This movie can be classified in horror genre. Final Destination is the next teen horror franchise to be launched. The Semantic Approach can be applied in this movie. Semantic includes area such as a location, character, props, costume and so on. Besides, the mise-en-scene theory also had approached in this movie. The setting (the place they shoot) and props (the things that around them), costume (the clothes that the teenagers wore) and makeup (the teenager’s makeup), lighting (the brightness of the environment) and actor’s movement (the behavior or the facial expression of the teenagers) are fully used in the movie. In additional, explosion of the flight is edited like a real. For me, I do not like the film like this kind. This is because the film makes me feel disgusting and gore. In fact, everybody should end their ...

Image
When 4 th June 2017, I had watched a film, Scott Pilgrim vs The World. This film is a comedy film and produced by Edgar Wright. This film is totally different with other films. This is because the editing skills that used by this film has shown out what the actor was presented while other films are most likely use the editing skills that behind the scene. The Mise-en-scene also has applied in this film. The film is shot in the different setting. Every actor has wore the suitable costume such as the 7 evil exes and makeup. The lighting also has applied in. When Scott Pilgrim fight with the 7 evil exes, the actions have involved in actor’s movement.  Scott Pilgrim, is the main actors in this film. He is a bass guitarist in Sex Bob-Omb. He lives in Toronto. In the beginning, he is dating with a Knives Chau. However, he has seen a girl in his dream that he really loves, Ramona Flowers and starts lose interest in Knives. He starts to have a date with Romana. The conditions fo...

Image
On 2 nd June 2017, I had watched a movie, Super 8 😱  in tutorial class. On that day, I had learned about the theory of mise-en-scene and I realized that the theory is suitable to apply in this movie. According to the lecture note, mise-en-scene is defined as staging in front of the camera which means everything that in front of the camera. There have four types of components in mise-en-scene which are setting and props, costume and makeup , lighting, and actor’s movement. The setting can be considered is the design of the background while the props can be defined as object or item such as table and chair, appliances. It can also include a large item such as car, train, canoe, and tent. We know that the costume and makeup are very important to the actors. We can know that what kind of the characteristic that actor was acting. Makeup can make the audience believe that what they are seeing on the screen to prevent losing their interesting. Besides, makeup can express the pers...
