Weekly Journal - Billy Hollywood Screen Kiss

Image
Billy's Hollywood Screen Kiss is a gay movie. Billy Collier is a photographer. One day, he found his male model, Gabriel. Gabriel is a coffee shop waiter. Billy is openly gay but Gabriel always says that he is straight and he has a girlfriend in San Fransico. However, as they spend more time together, they are getting more closer to each other. To me, I dislike this movie. This is because this movie gives me a sense of boring. I am not getting interested in the storyline. After I watched this movie, I have some idea come out from my mind.  I am straight but I respect this kind of relationship. In this new era, the majority of people are having a heterosexual relationship and this situation people will consider as normal. In my opinion, the "normal" things to people are the majority of people in the society are having the same situation. Therefore, the people who are having a homosexual relationship will be considered as abnormal. This is because this kind of pe

Introduction Feminist started in the 1920s, looking at women’s expression of her own subjectivity. Feminist film theory matured in the late 1960s, after radicalized feminist movement (of sexual liberation and political debate of female representation.) During week 11, I had watched a movie which called, ‘Legally Blonde’.  Today, I would like to discuss the theory of feminist in the film. Theory Discussion Feminism is a set of political practices seen through the analyses of the social/historical position of women as subordinated, oppressed or exploited in dominant modes of production (such as capitalism) and/or by social relations of patriarchy or male domination. Because films are viewed as a reflection of the society (and vice versa), we can seek out the ideological and social construction of women in films. Themes explored in feminist theory include discrimination, stereotyping, objectification, oppression, and patriarchy. In Feminist film theor

Weekly Journey - March of the Penguins

Image
Introduction I had learned about the documentary film in this week. The documentary film that I watched is “March of the Penguins”. This film is directed by Luc Jacquet and released in the year 2005. I will discuss the documentary film theory as the following. Theory Discussion There are 3 assumptions for the audience to think of what is documentaries. First and foremost, films events are not staged, thus providing an authentic look. Mise-en-scene is particularly put together like fiction films. Next, documentaries are not a fiction film, thus they depict not imaginary but real events. Film fiction provides imaginative impression while documentaries are very truthful. Furthermore, documentaries filmmakers are assumed to observe the events and make the objective record of the events. However, the above-mentioned assumptions are criticized heavily in recent times. Due to the selection of techniques, equipment, footage, angles, and other technical decisions are of th

Introduction Bicycle Thieves is a 1928 Italian film directed by Vittorio De Sica. This movie is talk about a real life of a father after post World War II.
